Color Harmonies

I was going through an old sketchbook and found a good example of color harmonies!
From top left ===> bottom right :

Monochromatic
(Blue)
Complementary Contrast (Yellow & Violet)
Primary Triadic Contrast (Red, Blue & Yellow)
Analogous Harmony (Violet, Blue-Violet, Blue, Blue-Green, Green & Yellow-Green)

That class was only fun because I had a friend in it with me (which is usually a kiss of death for one of us)
but Color Theory
is permanently engraved in my brain. No matter of therapy can remove it!

The "LiL uS" Project

LiL uS (with a lil I and a lil U):
This was by far one of the most fun personal projects that I wish I had completed to my hearts content. I had initially started it via Myspace with a few personal friends of mine, offering to compose for them a small caricature based off of reference or preference. I started it the 1st of June 2009 and worked on it for well over a month, inviting anyone I could as the time went on allowing a gracious month preparation. I however bit off more than I could chew, with a character sheet of over 25 others (not including myself).

I did what I could within the remaining spring break, however the next term of life drawing and concept character design harshly crippled the stylized "LiL Strokes" of the piece. So much so that when I returned to this project 3 months later for its completion, the newer figures (other than the presented 6) looked completely different and did not fit in with the progress I had made in June. Several times I halted the project, and several times I gave it the green light, but in the end it was always the first 6 that where truly "LiL" style.

T
he cause of style amnesia was mainly because the figures where not composed through Adobe, but a smaller, cheaper, and easier to use program at the time known as Paint.Net, that is tremendously more pen-pressure sensitive than Photoshop.

I really want to complete this piece, but what with all the spontaneous friends I tend to acquire and eventually lose to various reasons, to take written in requests again would kill me but I'll never rule anything out!

Welcome to my Art Blog! An Artsy Bio

Welcome and thank you for stopping by! First off I would like you to take the time to fill out the poll featured on the main page, so that I can find out just where exactly people are paying attention, I would greatly appreciate it!

Moving on, for those of you who don't know me (and even those who thought they did) my name is Robert and I am an aspiring artist out of Southern California. I do primarily live in Los Angeles, but I do attend an art college (AIOCOC) in Orange County where I am one year into my Bachelors for Media Art and Animation

I was born and raised up to my 13th year in a small, tightly knit town that was really only found on map because of the rail-way that went through it, and the freeway that couldn't avoid it. Growing up I realized early that anything that was anywhere was nowhere near this little town, and if you ever looking for anything at all the answer was simply "Go that way, out." This engrained the smallest seed for everyone who seemed to stay there too long, to get out! Leave! But for me I had more reason than anyone. As a child I saw just how unsuited I was for the reality school bestowed upon me.

Growing up, every kid always had the same dream: Blah blah blah, discover something. Blah blah blah work with animals, blah blah space this, blah blah fireman that. I couldn’t take that easily, and in truth I never did. I wanted to create something, to add something to this world! I didn’t want to prove a theory, or discover some kind of rare bug, I wanted to make something I could be proud of. Trust me, when one half of science class wants to be scientists, and the other half wants to marry a scientist, you want nothing more than an art class, a luxury. Until now.

After leaving the small town behind I took to high school in Los Angeles where I found out just how much I had to offer, the ideas I had to share, the murals to paint, the stills to life, and not only in self discovery. I saw the world at its most diverse, not where the only difference between me and next kid was the hair color and last name! I've experienced the nature of American freedom in ways I could never back where I was born, and for that I am truly thankful!

But I digress and before this post becomes too much of an eyesore, I'll cut it short.

In future updates, my traditional or digital art will be posted for viewing for either entertainment or critique or even both. My thoughts, feelings, inspiring daily events, as a true blog!

I am condensing my fan base from those who followed my year long comic series on Myspace
, and those who I usual on Deviant Art, as well as my close friends and fans alike from Facebook, where I mostly frequent. Welcome to everyone who followed me here, and once again I urge you to answer the poll on the main page, as well as sign up on blogger so that your comments are recognized as more than anonymous.

I will link updates via Facebook for easier notification, FYI :p

Thank you once again, and expect future updates soon!
